Indian Railways’ subsidiary Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) under Ministry of Railways is promoting rail-based tourism in the country. It recently launched two Majestic Tourist trains. The Majestic Tourist train tours will cover destinations in Rajasthan. The unique train tours provide on-train accommodation, international meals, sightseeing with entrances and other facilities.
It may be noted the keeping specific needs of tourists in mind, a new train was indigenously designed by Railways. The train has unique features including safety lockers for all guests, separate sitting area in 2nd AC compartments, two restaurants, one kitchen, hot and cold running water in bathrooms and washrooms, shower cubicles etc.
Read more ↓The train operates on select itineraries only and is managed by professionally trained staff have experience of catering to international guests. The menus feature Indian as well as international dishes and the menus can be structured according to the guests’ needs for group tours.
The train offers the following facilities:
First AC – There are four sharing compartments, with bunk beds. Each compartment has a lockable sliding door for the privacy of the occupants. Each compartment has one electronic safety locker for each guest.
First AC Coupe – Similar to first AC, there are double sharing compartments with one bunk bed. Each compartment has a sliding door for the privacy of the occupants. Each compartment has one electronic safety locker for each guest.
Second AC – These coaches are also similar to first AC. However, there are no doors for privacy. Each four-berth section has two bunk beds. There is a separate sitting area in each second AC coach.
Restaurants – The train has two restaurants each having a capacity to seat 64 guests.
Kitchen – The train has a fully equipped kitchen to serve different types of meals.
Toilets – There are two toilets in each coach, one at each end of the coach. The toilets are of latest vacuum-based technology.
Shower Cubicles – There are two shower cubicles in each coach, one at each end of the coach. The shower cubicles have running hot and water supply.
Library – A mini-library has been provided in one of the second AC coaches.
