The information was confirmed by Movie critic and business analyst Taran Adarsh on Twitter. He shared a post saying, “#Padmavat to release on 25 Jan 2018… #RepublicDayWeekend.” The title of the film that was in controversy due to its storyline was earlier supposed to release on December 1, 2017 as Padmavati but it was later titled to Padmavat. The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial will finally reach the theatres on January 25 and pose a tough challenge for Akshay Kumar’s R Balki starrer Pad Man and even Neeraj Pandey’s Aiyaary.Read more ↓
According to Bollywood Hungama, when rumours of a January 25 release began doing the rounds for Padmavat, Akshay Kumar swiftly rescheduled Pad Man from January 26 to January 25. Padmavat is now confirmed for January 25. A source very close to the film says, “It’s January 25 for us. We’ve waited too long. We can’t wait any more. Huge financial stakes are involved.”
The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recently gave U/A certification along with some modifications and suggested to change its title to ‘Padmavat’. Asked about his reaction on the possible clash of the two films, Akshay said, “It is not about competition, it is a very big day, a big week, so all the films can come. Both the films can release on that day. “Every film has the right to release whenever they (makers) want, and I am happy for them,” he told reporters. Viacom18 Motion Pictures and Sanjay Leela Bhansali Productions are yet to announce the official release date of the film.
Akshay’s “Padman” co-star, Sonam Kapoor said she would wait for an official announcement from the team of “Padmavati”.
